Richard A Ingram
Richard A Ingram is a musician based in Manchester, UK. He started learning piano at aged ten and then moved onto synths and guitar. After studying guitar building at Leeds College he moved to Manchester in 1998 and for the past 12 years has been a member of Oceansize who have released a number of albums and Ep's whilst touring around the world.
In 2007 after not playing the piano for nearly 15 years he was reunited with the instrument he had learnt on and started writing his own compositions. He also started to write more experimental compositions using processed guitar, piano and utilizing old tape recorders. His debut album 'Consolamentum' is to be released on May 4th on White Box Recordings.
"I was classically trained on the piano from the age of ten but it soon became a chore, the pieces I had to learn held no interest for me. A demanding Beethoven Sonata was just a technical exercise that I soon learnt to hate. I can appreciate these pieces now (still can't bloody play them) but to me the beauty of a piano lies in it's resonance and depth. I think Debussy summed it up best - 'Music is the silence between the notes' " - Richard A Ingram
